Traditional 1904 home gets major renovation and third floor addition to meet the needs of a growing family.

About

Averra Developments was proud to partner with the owners of a charming corner lot in the coveted Dickens Cedar Cottage neighborhood of Vancouver, BC, to expand their traditional 1904 house. The renovation project added much-needed square footage by transforming the main floor and adding a new third-floor addition, perfectly accommodating the growing needs of their family.

As with any renovation of a historic home, the process came with its challenges, but with meticulous planning and careful coordination, we were able to ensure that the homeowners could continue living in their basement suite throughout the renovation. This allowed the family to stay rooted in their daily routine while the upper levels of their home underwent significant changes—an invaluable cost savings in Vancouver’s high-demand housing market.

The project was a true collaboration, with the homeowner taking the lead on interior design. Their personal vision was brought to life, preserving the charm of the original 1904 structure while incorporating modern elements to enhance functionality and comfort. From thoughtfully redesigned living spaces to the seamless integration of new and old architectural features, this renovation breathed new life into a cherished family home.

The third-floor addition added even more value to the property, creating a spacious and bright living area that now serves as a perfect retreat for the growing family. The blend of classic design and modern convenience in this beautifully updated home reflects both the homeowner’s style and the expertise of Averra Developments, proving that thoughtful renovations can preserve a home’s heritage while preparing it for the future.
